Hyper SCADA Server

Hyper SCADA Server is a self-contained data collection and information server housed in a lockable wall-mounted enclosure. Utilizing Client-Server Architecture, the Human Machine Interface (HMI) is a typical Client Desktop PC connected to the Hyper SCADA Server using any one of the multiple connectivity options available to the user. The Hyper SCADA Server couples the power of networking with the stability and versatility of the Linux Operating System and MySQL to offer a SCADA System Server that is secure, fast and reliable.

Photo of operator using Hyper SCADA ServerThe Hyper SCADA Server has it all! It includes all of the necessary software required to implement a fully operational SCADA System right out of the box. Although third-party software is supported, they're not required. The Hyper SCADA Server includes DFS' HyperTAC II SCADA Software Program, Browser-based Client HMI Software, a virtually unlimited number of Development Client Licenses, Alarm, Report and Trending Software, Process Logic Building Software, Graphical Screen Building Tools, Historical Database, MySQL and supports the industry standard Modbus Communications Protocol. All you need to add is the Master Radio and RTUs. The Hyper SCADA Server can even be used to serve remote data to popular HMI packages such as Intellution's iFIX, Wonderware's InTouch, or any other ODBC-compliant application.

Every SCADA project has unique requirements. These requirements can change as time passes. The Hyper SCADA Server offers the user flexibility and accommodates growth. Whether implementing a small system, or a highly complex, multi-client, multi-site SCADA System, the Hyper SCADA Server will accommodate your needs. This flexibility allows you to meet your current needs, and is easily expandable as the SCADA requirements grow.

  • The midline Hyper SCADA Server (HSS002-1) and top-of-the-line HSS002-2 both support up to up to seven independent radio frequencies and up to 3,584 Remote Terminal Units (RTUs).
  • The baseline Hyper SCADA Server (HSS001) supports up to four independent radio frequencies and up to 2,020 Remote Terminal Units (RTUs).

All three SCADA servers feature support for several communication protocols and are ready to operate a SCADA system right out of the box. Every Hyper SCADA Server is delivered with the capacity to support 645,120 physical "hard-wired" I/O points, plus an unlimited number of "virtual" points. The Hyper SCADA Server is designed with a fully distributed Client/Server Architecture, for maximum processing power. The Hyper SCADA Server retrieves remote I/O information through a continuous global polling routine from Remote Terminal Units connected to the system by means of Ethernet and/or Radio. The Hyper SCADA Server maintains a centralized real-time and historical database and provides the information to clients accessing the system. Any client PC needing to access the system simply requires a Windows XP or Vista OS and Microsoft's Internet Explorer Browser. Since the Hyper SCADA Server is housed in a locked enclosure, every human interface with the system is accomplished through a client PC properly set-up to access the system. A client's permissions are dictated at the password level, ranging from view-only mode to system administrator. Below is a simplified diagram of a typical SCADA System using the Hyper SCADA Server.

With HyperTAC II SCADA Software, it's easy to create custom screens. Using the built-in Screen Builder Program, users can quickly develop screens for their application using easy to understand configuration parameters and tools. A library of commonly used graphical objects enables you to create animated screens with minimal effort. In addition, images created in other graphic image development programs are easily imported for use.

Using Free Tools To Detect Attacks On SCADA Networks

Using Free Tools To Detect Attacks On SCADA Networks

ICS/SCADA experts say open-source network security monitoring software is a simple and cheap way to catch hackers targeting plant operations. Operators at Natanz nuclear facility in Iran might well have caught Stuxnet before it spread and sabotaged operations at the plant if they had been watching the wires for anomalous network traffic, a pair of ICS/SCADA experts say.

Hackers gain full control of critical SCADA systems

Russian researchers have found vulnerabilities in industrial control systems that they say grant full control of systems running energy, chemical and transportation systems. The vulnerabilities were discovered by researchers who over the last year probed popular and high-end ICS and SCADA systems used to control everything from home solar panel installations to critical national infrastructure.

Annual threat report from Dell Security shows not only a significant surge in the number of attacks on retail credit card systems, but industrial SCADA systems as well, which are much more likely to go unreported.
For Dell to report an annual surge in point-of-sale (POS) attacks aimed at payment card infrastructures might not be such a surprise to people who pay any attention to the news.

Integrating Video into HMI/SCADA

Integrating Video into HMI/SCADA

The useful integration of video with industrial control systems has been a reality for a few years, but a burst of applications and installations is on the horizon. Cheaper bandwidth, wide availability of Internet protocol (IP) cameras, and greater familiarity with industrial Ethernet networks seem to be driving user interest. Basic video integration is just easier now, but good use of video takes some planning.
